News from the Nest

Don't miss our gallery talk by artist Robert Pollien, Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m.
With summer at its peak, we hope you'll join us for another opportunity to inspire connections between people, nature, and art. We cordially invite you to the Gilley next Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m., for a gallery talk delivered by the artist of our current exhibit: Naturally Drawn: Recent Works of Robert Pollien. The talk coincides with Wendell Gilley’s birthday and is free and open to the public.

Please join us to hear Robert discuss his evolution as an artist, and how he communicates the “gestalt” of being immersed in Mount Desert Island’s coast and the nuance of posture and behavior in his intimate crow series.

Our second annual Flight of Swallows was a soaring success! More than 100 guests, volunteers, and Gilley trustees and staff joined together for a summer evening of elegant tastes, sights, aromas, and sounds. An exquisite selection of 52 French wines, including three true champagnes, were enjoyed by everyone amid paired hors d’oeuvres and the classic jazz stylings of Scott Cleveland on piano and John Gallagher
on bass. What we enjoyed most of all, however, was the company of our friends and supporters. From all of us at the Gilley, thank you.
