A Special Announcement from Hinckley

Dear Hinckley Family & Friends,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of The Hinckley Company, I'm thrilled to announce that Peter O'Connell will be joining our team as the Company's President and Chief Executive Officer in Portsmouth, RI on September 1st.

Peter and his family currently live in Madison, CT and will soon be relocating to Rhode Island.  Peter is an experienced and avid boater and also the proud owner of a Hinckley Picnic Boat  - RETRIEVER.

After a thorough and exhaustive search process, Peter rose easily to become our top candidate. He embodies exactly what we sought for this important role.  His experience as a Hinckley buyer and service customer provide useful insights and perspectives.  He has proven successes as CEO of important and relevant companies, including Navtec and Lewmar. Most recently he served as CEO of Datacom Systems, a privately held technology company.  But above all these career distinctions, Peter's winning and infectious personality made him the leading candidate to become the seventh CEO in our Company's rich history.

Please share our enthusiasm in welcoming Peter and his family to The Hinckley Company family.

Sincerely,

David Howe
Chairman

The Wendell Gilley Museum: Join us for A Flight of Swallows

You are invited to join us for A Flight of Swallows, the 5th annual migration of the exclusive wine-tasting benefit for the Wendell Gilley Museum, which will feature superb selections from the Southern Hemisphere.

Already have your tickets? We look forward to seeing you and encourage you to share this invitation with your friends!
Fifty wonderful wines chosen by Scott Worcester, proprietor of Sawyer’s Specialties in Southwest Harbor, will enable guests to sample varieties from five countries. Whether you like wine dark and richly textured like the almost-inky Post House Penny Black from the Stellenbosch region of South Africa or prefer the light apple-melon-honey flavors of a Kim Crawford Pinot Gris from New Zealand, you will find swallows to your taste. Under-the-radar good value wines will be featured along with iconic and even otherwise unattainable wines. Penfolds’ fabled Grange, Groot Constantia’s nectar-like Grand Constance, and Finca Adalgisa Malbec, from Argentina’s smallest winery will be among the offerings. Sparkling, fizzy, white, rosé, red and dessert wines will be served in tasting portions for you to assess with all of your senses. Guests receive “A Field Guide to the Swallows of the Southern Hemisphere,” created to guide choices, with room for personal tasting notes.

Swallow participants will not be expected to eat like birds during the evening’s flight. A menu of Southern Hemisphere-inspired appetizers created by Jennifer Worcester of Southwest Harbor’s Sips, will complete the exotic tasting experience. Celebrants will learn what foods pair particularly well with the wines.

Those wishing to rest between flights, can watch Museum Carver-in-Residence, Steven Valleau demonstrate how to carve birds or simply relax to the sounds of  live jazz performed by Scott Cleveland on keyboard, John Gallagher on bass, and Chris Poulin on guitar.

Don’t miss A Flight of Swallows: tickets are limited and available by advance purchase on-line, by calling 207-244-7555, or in person at the Wendell Gilley Museum, Tuesday through Saturday10 am – 5 pm.
