Ellsworth. Healthy Acadia and Friends in Action are pleased to offer a free “Tai Chi for Health” class series beginning April 13, 2017. The classes will meet on Thursdays from 10:45 am to 11:45 am at the Moore Community Center, 133 State Street, in Ellsworth. While classes are free, a $5 donation is suggested.
This class series will use the Tai Chi for Health Institute’s diabetes curriculum. The class is appropriate not just for people who have pre-diabetes or diabetes, but for anyone who wants an opportunity to learn how to improve their heart and lung functions as well as their strength and balance. The course teaches exercises that promote movement control through the integration of mind and body. In addition, practicing tai chi increases confidence while reducing stress, further promoting health and wellbeing.
