Mount Desert Island is a very special place ! If you are planning a vacation to the Down East Coast of Maine or already are here, and are looking for something stimulating to do, please visit  Acadia National Park with its 200 miles of hiking trails with magnificent views.  While on the Island, please come see the fine paintings and sculpture at The Salty Dog Gallery, 322 Main Street, Southwest Harbor, just minutes from the park. There are fine restaurants here and many conveniences found in much larger communities.
