Ellsworth: Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County will be offering two training series beginning April 8 and 9
for those interested in becoming hospice volunteers and for
professionals who wish to develop skills for supporting those who are
grieving.
Hospice Volunteer training will be held Wednesdays for nine weeks from April 9 to June 4, from 3:30 - 7:00 p.m.
The extensive training includes education on topics related to
end-of-life issues, skills-development for supporting patients and
families, and personal exercises to enhance volunteer service. Cost for
the training is $50.
Bereavement Training for Professionals begins April 8, and will run for six consecutive Tuesdays through May 13 from 3:30 - 7:00 p.m.
The course is designed to support professionals such as nurses, social
workers, therapists, clergy members, who want to enhance their ability
to serve those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Cost for the
course is $150.
Pre-registration by April 1
and a pre-course interview are required for both training programs.
Some partial scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served
basis.
