Bar Harbor to Bangor Transportation Service Information

One of the many questions we get here in the Chamber office is "How can I get to Bangor to catch my plane?"  This morning I came across this transportation service and thought I should share it with all of our members who also are faced with that question from time to time! --Cynthia

Schedule, Rates, & Reservations

REGULARLY SCHEDULED DEPARTURES

Ground transportation alternatives between Bangor and Bar Harbor are limited.
Bar Harbor Shuttle LLC is located in Bar Harbor and makes at least 4 round-trip runs to Bangor on a daily basis between
June and October. Unfortunately, due to our location, we are not usually able to provide a departure from Bangor any earlier
than 11:30 am but please call us at 207.479.5911 to be sure.
Our daily departure schedule is dependent on the number of passengers and their travel needs. You can reserve one-way or round-trip tickets through our online reservation system and specify your desired departure/arrival times. If we are unable to meet your needs, we will contact you within two business days to discuss alternatives.
DEPARTURE/ARRIVAL We strive to stay on schedule; however, occasionally there are delays caused by circumstances beyond our control. If your flight is running behind and you miss your scheduled shuttle, we will make our best effort to arrange for you to be transported on the next closest departure. Listed below is the approximate travel time for each destination we service. Please note that these are estimates and not guaranteed.
Bangor to/from Bar Harbor – 1.5 hours
Bangor to/from Ellsworth – 45 minutes
Bar Harbor to/from Ellsworth – 45 minutes
Bar Harbor to/from Trenton – 20 minutes
PICK-UP and DROP-OFF LOCATIONS are flexible, but the most common are the Bangor International Airport, Greyhound orConcord Coach Lines (formerly Concord Trailways) bus terminals, Hollywood Slots, The Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport in Trenton, Mike’s Groceries on Water Street in Ellsworth, and most hotels/motels located within Bar Harbor (see ourpartners page for a list of lodging options).

Bar Harbor Shuttle LLC offers discounted rates for round-trip tickets and Group Rates for 3 or more on the same reservation. In addition, children 10 years and under travel at a 50% discount off a one-way adult ticket. Note that youth tickets are not eligible for additional discounts.
Corporate discounts are also available for organizations using our service regularly. Please call for pricing.

RESERVATIONS and PAYMENT

Reservations may be made online 24 hours a day or during normal business hours (8:00am-6:00pm) by calling 207.479.5911. Credit card information must be provided at the time your reservation is made in order to secure your seat(s). Please be sure to review our cancellation policy prior to booking your reservation.
Information required during the reservation process includes but is not limited to:
  • Contact information including name, address, home phone,
    cell phone, and email address
  • Emergency contact information
  • Airline, flight number, arrival time (arriving and departing flight
    information is needed if making round-trip reservations)
  • Bus station arrival time
  • Hotel name

BAGGAGE POLICY

Each passenger is allowed to travel with one piece of baggage up to 50lbs plus their carry-on items at no charge. A baggage fee of $5 will be assessed for each item beyond the allowance. If you did not pay for the additional or overweight bags during the reservation process, your credit card will be charged on the date of travel.

BICYCLE POLICY

You may travel with your bicycle at your own risk for an additional fee of $5 per bicycle. Bar Harbor Shuttle LLC is not liable for any damage your bicycle may incur during transport to your destination or during the loading and/or unloading process.

PET POLICY

For a fee of $10, you may travel with your pet as long as the pet is in a travel-ready kennel. Take note that the passenger is fully responsible for loading and unloading the pet. Bar Harbor Shuttle LLC is not liable for any injury the pet may incur during transport to your destination.

PICK-UP and DROP-OFF

During the reservation process, you will specify your desired pick-up and drop-off locations. We will contact you either by phone or email prior to your date of travel notifying you of the approximate time of departure from your pick-up location. Please be ready and available at the scheduled location at least 10 minutes prior to the departure time. It is important to note that departure times are estimated and dependent on the number of passengers traveling on that run. Our shuttle is well marked and easy to locate outside of each location noted below.
Bangor locations are:
Bar Harbor locations include most of the hotels/motels in the area, College of the Atlantic, or other locations arranged during the reservation process.
Ellsworth location is Mike’s Groceries on Water Street.
Trenton location is the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport.

FLIGHT DELAYS

We will wait as long as possible, but we must stay on schedule to meet the expectations of our customers. We will send an email to you and try to call you before departing. If we cannot wait for you, you will need to contact us once you land and we will do our best to make accommodations for you on the next departure from that location; however, if we are fully booked, you may need to seek alternative transportation or wait until the next available departure.
