Jill Freundlich named 2014 Citizen of the Year

The Southwest Harbor & Tremont Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Jill Freundlich is the 2014 recipient of our annual Citizen of the Year Award, which will be presented again this year at the Quietside Flamingo Festival's Polo and Yacht Club Cocktail Party to be held on Sunday, July 13th from 5-7:30pm.
We usually think of year-round people when choosing our Citizen of the Year, but even as a “summer resident”, Jill goes above and beyond what many year-round residents do any given year in helping around the community. Jill volunteers for the Southwest Harbor Public Library, where she helps with the summer reading program, helps with preparations for Summer Story Camp, does seasonal decorations, helps with events and the annual Quietside Parade, and processes new books as well as re-shelving books.

For the Southwest Harbor & Tremont Chamber of Commerce, she works at the visitor information desk, assisting visitors from all over the US and the world with area lodging, dining and activity information. She also helps with special projects, and is one of our loyal cadre of Oktoberfest volunteers.

Jill has been one of the most consistent volunteers at the Transfer Station's Swap Shop donation center. Her positive energy there has made a big impression on everyone. And she volunteers many hours at the Common Good Soup Kitchen, doing whatever is needed any given day.

When you see Jill, please thank her for her years of service and join us on July 13th at the Causeway Club for the Polo and Yacht Club Cocktail Party to help us publicly honor her contributions.

For more information on joining the party at the Causeway Club on the 13th, contact Harbor House at: 244-3713 or Diana@harborhousemdi.org.
