News from the Salty Dog Gallery

Jul 21 2013
This past week has been a scorcher

Its been near 90's every day for a week, and were told this is cool compared to the temperatures in New York, Philadelphia, and Boston. But for those of us who came to Maine to be cool, global warming is definitely happening in the Northeast corridor. Our problem is we don't have air conditioners..So much for the heat. The weather forecast is for much lower temperatures next week.

Our town is settling down now that our pink feathered friends have flown to find a cool place. However, Mount Desert Island is hopping with more events than we can attend and still get some sleep.
Phil's watercolor class at the Wooden Boat School this August still has two seats left.  If you are interested, its not too late to call.
He's now teaching 4 classes at The Salty Dog Gallery this month. Classes are 9/12 each Tuesday,  ending July 30th.

Our new exhibit in the gallery begins July 21st showing three artists from Mount Desert Island..They are Ed Elvidge, Mark Fink, and Gail Ribas.
Ed really pushes the envelope in retouching his photographs so they look like oil paintings. Mark makes etchings, and  encaustic paintings on wood panel, and Gail is showing her beautiful transparent watercolors.. We still feature sculptors Jim Green and Greg Ondo. We have an additional whimsical piece by Sydney Roberts Rockefeller.
Below are resumes, photos, and images of their work.
Their paintings will be on display from Sunday, July 21st through Saturday, August 3rd.. A reception to meet the artists will be Tuesday,July 23rd at 5:00 PM.
If nearby, please come see their work !!!!
